Financial Freedom with Debt
Consolidation
The road to debt is paved with good intentions. The
cliff to financial freedom is navigated with careful
planning. Enough platitudes? Okay, how about this:
you can't live today without credit cards, but debt gets away
from you so easily. How do you balance the two? And
what is "financial freedom" anyway besides a slogan at seminars
to make you feel guilty? Can debt consolidation help you get
there?
In our market system, you probably will never have
everything that you want. Even the very rich are always
finding a new, more expensive car to buy. There are certain
things, though, that if you lack, you will have a very hard
time being happy. A place to sleep, food to eat, clothes
to wear and a doctor to take your children to are all very hard
to live without. Also, for most of us, a car is necessary
to find a job. If you can't meet those five demands, you
need help.
Why? If credit payments are eating your food budget, you
feel trapped. Then, you consider debt consolidation. You don't
know what "financial freedom" means, but you do know that you
have to cover the basics in some way. Clothes are not too much
of a problem; you can find something at a thrift store.
For many people, a place to live takes up most of their budget;
you have to pay for even the cheapest place you can
find. Doctor bills can also be tricky, but some states
now offer health insurance for children. Your biggest worries
are your transportation, food and all the other
bills.
Consider a Debt Consolidation Loan
If your focus is survival, take a look at your debts and
consider a debt consolidation loan. A debt consolidation
loan will repackage your debts into one lump, normally with a
lower interest rate over a longer period. This is how a
debt consolidation loan can reduce your monthly payments.
The breathing room a debt consolidation loan brings you can
allow you to gradually look beyond the bare basics to luxuries,
like a pizza. The kind of debt consolidation loan that
you qualify for depends on many factors, and the benefits
differ with each debt consolidation loan.
If you are a little beyond this, into where your spouse blew
the food budget at the store on junk food, cut up your debit
and credit cards. It makes impulse buying harder.
Get stricter with spending. Consider a debt consolidation
loan, but only for debt that won't be replaced. It does
no good to pay off a credit card that just gets charged up
again. Use the budgeting software that lies neglected on
your computer. Show your family how much free money they
would have if you didn't have this debt. That could
motivate them.
Feeling good about your life isn't about money, but money
can help you feel bad. Some of the keys to eliminating
money stress are: budgeting, debt consolidation and a better
paying job. Well, two out of three isn't bad!
